Who's responsible and how to contact us
The Mix Archive (TMA) runs this website and is responsible for personal data collected through TMA accounts and membership features. For privacy questions, requests or complaints, email kelvin@themixarchive.co.uk.
What information we use
If you register, we process your email address, account details, email-verification status and security information needed to keep your login working. Password credentials are handled by the authentication service rather than displayed to other members.
When you use Members Club features, we may store your saved mixes, collection activity, votes, discussions, requests and other material you deliberately submit. We record your membership status, including any free founding-place claim and its date.
Our website and service providers may receive routine technical information such as browser type, approximate network location, IP address and security logs so they can operate and protect the service.
Why we use it
We use account and membership information to provide the service you register for, manage access, verify email addresses, prevent abuse and respond to your requests. These activities generally rely on providing our service under our contract with you or on legitimate interests in keeping TMA secure and reliable.
Google Analytics is optional and runs only if you accept analytics in the privacy-and-cookies notice. You can change that choice using Privacy choices in the site footer. We do not require analytics consent to access the free archive or create an account.
We do not currently run a Meta advertising pixel on TMA. If advertising tracking is introduced, the notice and your choices will be updated before it is used.
Who helps deliver TMA
We use hosting and authentication/database providers, including Vercel and Neon, to deliver the site and accounts. Where consented to, Google Analytics helps us understand how the website is used. When paid subscriptions are available, PayPal handles payment authorisation and subscription information. Embedded Mixcloud or YouTube listening services operate under their own privacy policies when you access them.
Service providers may process data internationally. Where required, applicable safeguards and data-protection arrangements are used. Contact us if you would like details of the services relevant to your information.
How long data is kept
Account and member content is generally kept while your account is active. If you close your account or ask us to delete information, we review what can be removed and what must be retained for security, dispute handling, financial recordkeeping or legal obligations. Security and technical logs are retained only as needed for those purposes. You can ask about the applicable period for a particular record.
Your choices and rights
You can request access to your personal information, ask us to correct mistakes or delete eligible information, object to or restrict certain processing, and exercise other rights that apply to you under UK data protection law. Email us and we'll explain how we can help. You can withdraw optional analytics consent at any time; that won't affect processing already carried out lawfully.
If you're unhappy with how your concern is handled, you can complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Membership and other sites
Our free archive links to independent websites and original recording hosts. Their privacy practices are separate from ours. TMA does not sell access to recordings or host downloadable copies of mixes.
