Mutations (2001)

Ian Ossia · 2001

An hour and six minutes of 2001 progressive from one of Renaissance's early residents: Ian Ossia's own mix, shared years later on his own Mixcloud rather than released as an album. That distinction between an independently recorded DJ mix and a commercially issued compilation matters. Ossia had already built his name through Renaissance, yet this one survives through a later personal upload rather than a shop-bought release with a catalogue number. It gives a different way into his record box in 2001, without the expectations attached to the familiar Renaissance sleeves.
