Kamaya Painters — Endless Wave
Endless Wave comes from the early Kamaya Painters project, before the names behind it became huge on their own: Tiësto and Benno de Goeij, who was also part of Rank 1. The record appeared on Black Hole in 1998 and received UK releases the following year. It's a softer, floating side of late-90s trance, with a melody that takes its time rather than pushing towards the biggest possible breakdown. I love digging out these early aliases, because the music makes sense on its own but also shows how much was happening before the superstar names took over.

Before the bigger names
Kamaya Painters was the joint project of Tiësto and Benno de Goeij, who was also part of Rank 1. Endless Wave appeared through Black Hole Recordings in 1998, backed by Northern Spirit and Outstream in its digital release listing. The record also went through UK releases in 1999.
If you only associate those producers with the enormous main-room anthems that followed, Endless Wave makes for a refreshing listen. The melody is prominent, but it floats rather than demanding a giant breakdown-and-drop moment.
A useful late-90s connection
The early Black Hole period is a good place to hear trance before one fixed superstar sound crowded out the smaller records. Kamaya Painters gives that history an extra branch: two producers whose later names became much more recognisable than this project credit.
There's a collector's detail worth remembering, too. The 1998 Black Hole release and the later 1999 Data issue aren't necessarily the same physical pressing. If you're buying the twelve-inch, check the label and catalogue rather than assuming every Endless Wave sleeve is interchangeable.
