Global Underground: Classic DJ Mixes
Listen to classic Global Underground DJ mixes selected by The Mix Archive, including Sasha, John Digweed, Nick Warren and Dave Seaman.
Global Underground was more than a run of mix CDs. For progressive-house listeners it became a map of the scene: a DJ, a city, two discs and enough space to show where their sound was at that moment.
The TMA Global Underground playlist collects the editions that have featured across the site, including mixes from John Digweed, Sasha, Dave Seaman and Nick Warren. Sydney, San Francisco, Hong Kong, Cape Town and Shanghai are already represented, with more to follow as the Archive grows.
Rather than replacing the individual TMA pages and Collector's Shelf guides, this is the listening companion to them. Read the stories and tracklists here, then use Mixcloud when you simply want to press play.
Why listen
Why this collection is worth your time
GU works brilliantly as a listening project because every edition has its own identity. The city concept may have been part of the packaging, but the lasting value is hearing major DJs capture a particular point in their careers across two carefully programmed discs.
Where to start
Don't overthink it
Pick a favourite DJ first, then try one you normally overlook. Comparing the different GU entries is half the fun: they share a world, but they definitely do not all sound the same.
