This is not a general mix-CD category. It is one run of releases from Sasha & John Digweed: Northern Exposure, Northern Exposure 2, Expeditions and Communicate. Heard in order, they chart a clear move from ambient space and progressive psychedelia towards the darker, tighter club sound of 2000.
The reason to own them is the same reason they still work now: the programming. North and South need each other. East Coast and West Coast pull in different directions. Expeditions brings the trance pressure closer, then Communicate strips away the widescreen atmosphere and heads back into the room.
Each deep dive follows that movement through the music, with the complete tracklist alongside it. Start with the mix that still gets under your skin. Wanting the CD back usually follows.
