Northern Exposure (CD1 — North)

Sasha & John Digweed · 1996

Forget recreating a club night at home. Northern Exposure's North disc opens with ten minutes of The Orb and closes on Banco de Gaia, and Sasha & Digweed build something colder and stranger in between. Now reissued for its 30th anniversary as Northern Exposure Redux. The North disc deliberately takes its time before behaving like a conventional club mix. Starting with The Orb gives the music room to feel cinematic, not merely functional, and the ending on Banco de Gaia keeps that wider atmosphere intact. Listen to it before the South disc: the relationship between the two halves explains more than either tracklist on its own.
