Airdrawndagger

Sasha · 2002

Airdrawndagger arrived in 2002 after years of expectation, at exactly the wrong moment for anyone hoping Sasha would simply freeze the late-90s sound in place. Progressive house was already fragmenting, Twilo had closed, and the wider superclub era was starting to lose some of its certainty.

The album leans into that change. Ambient electronics, breaks and detailed progressive textures matter more than recreating the obvious shape of Sasha’s biggest club records. The result was always going to divide people, and that is part of why it remains useful.
