Don't expect Northern Exposure's widescreen mood here. Communicate finds Sasha & Digweed in 2000 gone darker and tighter, playing the same records as everyone else at the top of progressive house, and making them hit harder. Communicate arrived in 2000, after the atmospheric grandeur of the Northern Exposure records, and the difference is worth hearing directly. The pair are still masters of building a long sequence, but the selection is tighter and the mood darker. Treating this as a disappointing sequel misses the point: it reflects a different club moment and a different set of priorities.
