Essential Mix — Live at The Arches, Glasgow
- Progressive House
- House
Two DJs with completely different instincts sharing one Glasgow night. Pete Tong and Sasha at The Arches in 1995, both playing the same Simply Red song in two completely different versions, and all the better for not pretending to agree. The shared Simply Red source is a brilliant little reminder of how much interpretation mattered in 1995: two versions of the same song could work in very different hands. Tong's radio sensibility and Sasha's club instincts are both present, but neither needs to win an imaginary contest. Hear the programme as one night at The Arches rather than two isolated greatest-hits sets.
