Essential Mix — Live at Homelands
- Trance
- Progressive Trance
Peak-era Oakenfold closing Radio 1's Homelands Essential Mix in May 1999: forty minutes of patient melodic trance before Grace, Binary Finary and Gouryella land one after another. This was part of a shared Radio 1 festival broadcast, not an isolated two-hour studio statement. The shorter slot helps explain the directness of the closing selections, but there's still a gradual build before the most recognisable trance records arrive. For anyone following Oakenfold's extraordinary run of 1999 Essential Mixes, Homelands catches another version of the same fast-changing year.
