If your memory of John Digweed starts with him standing next to Sasha, Sydney CD1 is where his solo identity becomes impossible to miss: deep, percussive and patient before Albion's Air finally lets the light in. Sydney is often discussed as part of the early Global Underground story, but CD1 rewards attention on its own. Its deeper opening and gradual move towards Albion's Air are a good illustration of Digweed's patience: the brighter moments have more impact because he doesn't race towards them. It also offers a useful comparison with Sasha's increasingly widescreen mixes from the same period.
