Renaissance Presents… Volume One
Nigel Dawson · 1998
- Progressive House
- Progressive Trance
Nigel Dawson’s mix opens in deep, atmospheric territory with two versions of Miro’s “Paradise”, then tightens through Dominion, Human Movement and Dos Deviants before moving into a more trance-led closing stretch featuring Corfu, Agnelli & Nelson and Propulsion. Released in 1998, it captures Renaissance at the point where progressive house was becoming darker, tougher and more openly trance-influenced.

Trance Nation America (CD1)
Taylor · 2000
- Progressive Trance
- Progressive House
Taylor’s first disc is darker and more progressive than the Trance Nation name suggests. Garbage’s Rabbit in the Moon remix, BT, Odessi and Pink Bomb build towards his own “Anomaly” and “Xenophobe” — a strong snapshot of the American progressive-trance sound in 2000 without relying on obvious hands-in-the-air peaks.
Featured Tracks of the Month

Gloat — Wuarp (Original Mix)
2000
Featured on Global Underground 016: Cape Town (CD1)
A tense, slowly unfolding progressive-house cut built around restrained momentum rather than an obvious anthem. Featured on CD1 of Dave Seaman’s Global Underground 016: Cape Town, “Wuarp” captures the darker, groove-led side of progressive music at the turn of the millennium.
