The sequel that had every right to disappoint but doesn't. Northern Exposure 2's East Coast disc tightens the widescreen idea with GusGus, Fluke, Überzone and twelve minutes of Hybrid, Sasha & Digweed clearly built for bigger rooms now. The 1997 follow-up keeps the long-form idea but puts more weight into the sequencing. GusGus, Fluke, Überzone and Hybrid point towards a bigger, more rhythm-led progressive sound than the first Northern Exposure's ambient opening suggested. The East Coast disc is worth judging on its own terms rather than demanding a repeat of the earlier album's first ten minutes.
